About / Map
Here’s a Map of my Journey - it’ll be updated as I go so keep coming back to check on my progress!
About.
The trip was about seeing every dawn and watching every sunset.
Then it was about seeing every dawn and every sunset as a method of forcing the day to continue, to another day.
Next it was about finding faith, not George Michael and not in God.
A faith that exists in each day regardless of the struggles we face but there because of who you face them with.
You see acts of faith from your friends everyday, each in a small way, they shouldn’t stop with just friends. Hold out your hand and pass that good will to others, they pass it to you without so much as a thanks or you noticing, it happens with a smile and a nod.
A friend that’s a stranger shares a smile on the underground. A snigger at an event is brought home by knowing look and a glint the eye.
I’ve decided I’m living a life in a cynical cold world. I’m surrounded by many people in work and in the supermarket, in business and in the gym who have a cold humourless view of the world they force you to submit to their view by virtue that we all sit and accept that these people are miserable and therefore serious which also makes them right.
Does that also predispose all cheerful people to be wrong?
Is your boss your boss because he is happy? Or is he there because he is to be taken seriously?
I’m convinced of the opposite.
Look elsewhere in the world, away from a first world developed need and greed and find a smile in a child a wave from a stranger, help at the side of the road from a well wisher and you will start to find Faith.
Faith, the enemy of cynicism.
I’m going to find smiles.
Every day I’m looking for a clarity of endeavour a serious investigation of where we find love, a love of each other without any complications of the strife of material gain. Within that love, surrounding it, enveloping it and carrying it from one place to the next will be my faith.
Its a work in progress and for me to find faith you need to be part of it, its a mutual return thing!
You will get just as much as me - so help me in any way you can - yes kind thoughts do help as much as me staying with your friends in a foreign place or them giving me advice on places to see while eating a sandwich in a town square.
Can I come too? Will wear a yellow bikini
when is your leaving date?
You will be missed….. take care
I hope that you find smiles, but I know that you’ll leave lots of smiles behind you xx

Hi Jo,
I’m sure you’ll have some interesting experiences - keep safe though! Sounds like you’re going to some tricky places!
Thanks for the invite to your leaving do - we can’t come but I’ll do some baking for Jo to bring with her!

life is like the changing seasons, some we like for certain reasons.
the spring showers bring out our life to bloom, the summer sun fills our life with fun. the autum brings us a crisp golden monsoon. the winter cold and wants to make us run and hide, the cycle of love is like the elements of the earth, they need something else to make them work.
the seas would not survive without the pull of the moon, the sands would not sculpture without the winds making a dune.
the candle can not burn without the oxygen, it would turn…….. flicker and dance ……. ending the burning romance.
the air keeps us moving, the water feeds us on our toes, so what is it that we would miss the most.
of all these things we take for granted, passed by with never a second thought until we sit by and wonder in our selfish way that what we want should come our way.
does everyone think of these things today? no i doubt just like the rest, we don’t miss them till there existance is nothing more than a hymn or song. if you did would it change your life today?????????? why yes of course, thats why your going to be living so many peoples dream.
How could you go to Italy without me???? Well, just in case you need it, I’ve always found the following to be very useful in Italy:
‘H’a qualqun per punture d’insetto?’ - Have you got anything for insect bites? Lots of love and don’t forget to tell me when you’re back in Italy xxx
We met Jo today in Kirchhundem/Germany at the parking place of the “Panorama Park”. We signet on the bike and wish him good luck and always a safe trip.
