Jo Press Alert -Received on the 12th

August 14th, 2009

Right, im in uzerche looking at witches hats, been to see the meteor crator in rochechouart, seen the martyr village in oradour, this was very poignant, again amazing how a man can change love to hate and how others can let them, we are not so very civilised even now are we? We still allow lifes bullys to rule us even as history shows us the extreme results. Seen the mooning monk in solignac and need to make a plan to fill tomorrow. Weather 28degrees in the shade. Either my liver still hurts or i need a poo. Hope its the poo.

ED. Sorry folks/Jo bit late putting this on, hoping blockages have now been removed

cognac is a place not just a drink

August 9th, 2009

im here and amazed by what cognac really is and means…the angels share, the fungus breathes the ancestry of chief tasters and the romance of hennesey ellipse. Im saddened by another life event, people you hope for have other choices to make that inevitably lead them away from me no matter how bright i find their prescence. They cant be blamed but desevre our respect for being so pure to their thoughts. Another bloody thunderstorm has meant ive glad to learn and a 40 minute museum took 4 hours. Wow. The talent, passion and relationships these people feel is inspiring. A bland little village in france has never hsd such a story of commitment to tell. The vapours are flammable the taste is dependent upon so much that i understand but arent educated enough to appreciate. Stunning ideals to delivery of a product you may have faith in today but you hope you great grandchildren might saviour. tomorrow is the largest bridge in the world, ill report back with pictures. Next time ill take a skateboard

August 6th, 2009

…closer to tge ground, less distance to cover when you fall off and it has four wheels. Yes, ive had my fourth accident. Twice hit other ‘things’ twice tumbelled down the road. I know today was all me as a few minutes earlier i had told myself to wake up, its raining for gawds sake! Panniers collapsed yet again, folded like a cardboard box! Indicator gone and mirror but other than some battle scars Shirley is ok. Ive got a really bruised hip/inner thigh that needs some loving attention though…between that and the constant rain and a 40euro campsite ive been a glum boy today. Until this restaurant that is…wow…magnificent called le55 and thats not a leicester postcode! Very very impressive food, beer, service-waitress-and at lat and yet again i find my faith in the days end.

Carnac - Brittany, Skegness of France…

August 6th, 2009

much better than skeggy, but does have that kinda feel to it! Full of british tourists who, although they drive bmws and are ‘professional’ types, still manage to illustrate a degenerate society abroad, shouting to be understood in the same way monty python did in the watneys red barrel sketch. Led by their noses by unruley children who scream more than thank their gratitude. What an arrogant nation we are! They should visit the baltics to discover how outdated and out classed we really are by the rest of Europe! There are some familiar aspects though. Smells such as old seaweed mixed with donoughts, perpetual rain and cloudy skies and of course sand and the driving wind. I suppose that should read coarse sand and driving wind. The seagulls are familiar too, as one tells a seagull joke and you hear all the others laugh along…did you hear the one about the englishman german and frenchman…. There is a purpose to coming here and it was to see the 3000 menhirs interspersed with stone tables, all of which are some 6000 years old built by prehistoric man. They are aligned east to west in parellel lines, quadrangles and circles, graduating from knee high to 3m high, from a quater ton to four tons. Whilst most cant be reached, just a few can be touched and you marvel not only at the why but the how. How, before engines, before pulleys and block and tackle, before bronze or iron, before chains and even before the wheel did these stones become positioned and placed some 10km from their quarry?. If it stops raining ill take some pictures…you will want to see more photos i know!

Received today~ salsa dan

August 4th, 2009

Still at mt st michel on a beatiful day thats led to sunburn. Incredible views of the granite monolith topped by the abbey as architectural iceing. The sun set is typically impressionistic, a half light that would have made monet want to raise a brush. The sky is an intense blue and dotted randomly with white clouds as though god has placed his hand in white paint and left a weathered old mans print on the sky! Dusk here is not to be missed. Tomorrow i move on to see the atlantic coast and the menhirs made famous by asterix and obelix adventures. If i dont see cartoon characters ill be disappointed! Xxx

bloody rain!

August 1st, 2009

im in france, 64km south of dieppe and its raining. Im wet but most noticably its seeping in through my crotch and making an interesting underpant soup with my vegetables. Other damp patches i can deal with but this one is annoying. Beginning to wish id stayed in london! If i go back, do you think i might get a towelling off from an interesting girl? Might be worth a ride in the rain to find out…ill upload an address and first one there can report back. Im incredibly tired and full of trumps, must be because ive been holding them in…to dispose of the nuclear waste on french soil. Got to go and wring out my pants, at least they wont need washing now, between the rain and the wriggling and itching they have had the equivalent of 40mins on a c cycle. I hope the weather brightens up as i go south…speak soon.
