Silou is silly
what a place! Im in the campsite a shanty town disposessed, in an area of spain which once would have been beautiful until tourism hit and plastic swords and big brother live in the pubs became the norm. As i find the info office i meet a guy from carlisle that up until last week had a bar here. Broken by the new culture thats replaced the old spain hes off home to blighty, hopes and bank account equally dashed. We spend a while talking and i head off to the campsite, the only redeeming features of which are a sexy tarty receptionist and the people i meet later that night. Tent up and a look for a post office, a snooze on the beach and then a pint or six in a bar watching billy conelly until i nearly let dribbles of pee escape as im laughing so much! I go to my tent expecting to snore when lurch and melons come over and really fill me with faith-theres a word weve missed- they tell me of their journey and they are so full of enthusiasm and fun. They have loved their trip which has been frought for them and even found silou fun. We have a beer and stay up talking and smoking till 230 am, they are people with a great way of accepting everything and everyone, something im learning, but slowly! Some days you have to wait longer for faith, sometimes its in the sunrise, sometimes found in a hurry over lunch, other days it sneaks up as a suprise, occasionally i know when its coming, call it a hunch. It always occurswait for it and you will raise a smile before you sleep.
Hi Jo, Remember us?,it”s Lurch & Melons, who you met in Salou at the “La Union Campsite”. Hope your adventure is still going well, and that you are safe & happy. Well, despite even more annoying setbacks on our journey home, we”re delighted to tell you that “Bessie” did us proud, and got us back safely! During our trip, we were truly overwhelmed by the kindness & generosity shown to us, by people of all ages & walks of life. It was a pleasure meeting you Jo, and wish you every happiness & success on your trip. And if you do find the time to email me, i have a couple of pics that you might like to have. After all, we had to laugh at “Shirley Bessie”…!! Take care Jo, ride safe, very best wishes, JOHN & HELEN. xx
