Phew, still hot but just had a hair cut to cool things down…very professional too…flaming razor and alcohol…my sneezes have given way to runny nose but gradually feeling better.
Noticablly more Morroccans down this end of Spain and less people speaking English.
Pulled this morning for overtaking…again.
63 Euro fine!
Most expensive so far!
gotta go, love to all.

Still in alicanti but weather incredible, even the spanish are complaining about the heat! Fantastic steak dinner, the second best ive ever had after a walk through the alicanti old castle and new marina. The boats here go for five million each. Bought two, see you in south of france…

Campsite good but its windy on the beach as i snooze, very uneventful day but i need the rest, i dont get it though as its so hot through the night. Saturday i ride to alicanti via benidorm, unexpected skyscrapers in benny, i meet some english folk in a cafe followed by a wealthy pyramid selling ex olympic gold medalist. Cool car and lots of stories! We pass a couple of hours then the campsite and tourist info are illusive. Guide book drastically wrong about location but nice place so another snooze by the pool until dinner and an impromptu salsa show. Tomorrow alicanti then monday im off to find a speghetti western film set in the sierra nevada mountains and alhambra which cant be missed. Hope my cold has gone by then as my helmet is filling fast with goo!!

so far my idea ofspain has been very unfavourable, the costas, do cost but also leave you with a sour concept of spain, that is until yesterday. I headed for the country roads and im astounded by the big sky landscape colours and emptiness waiting to be rediscovered with each passing mile. Im expecting to see Hoss and Blue Boy round every corner…for those that dont remember High Caperrell charactersof a western series in the 70’s ! Stunning places that are hugely undersold by tourism, although friendlier receptions would be nice! Im in albarracin and its incredibly beautful, the campsite is top notch for a reasonable 10euro and again ive found im happy enough to stay a few days to explore. So far ive been to turuel the architecture, the rock formations the landscape a 14century aquaduct and water storing caverns have formed a part of this amazing place with more to be found tomorrow. Staying closer to the site to wash my pants…yes again…im going to explore albarracin itself a mountain fortress village caught in time and once a culture of berber kingdom within spains mainland.

what a place! Im in the campsite a shanty town disposessed, in an area of spain which once would have been beautiful until tourism hit and plastic swords and big brother live in the pubs became the norm. As i find the info office i meet a guy from carlisle that up until last week had a bar here. Broken by the new culture thats replaced the old spain hes off home to blighty, hopes and bank account equally dashed. We spend a while talking and i head off to the campsite, the only redeeming features of which are a sexy tarty receptionist and the people i meet later that night. Tent up and a look for a post office, a snooze on the beach and then a pint or six in a bar watching billy conelly until i nearly let dribbles of pee escape as im laughing so much! I go to my tent expecting to snore when lurch and melons come over and really fill me with faith-theres a word weve missed- they tell me of their journey and they are so full of enthusiasm and fun. They have loved their trip which has been frought for them and even found silou fun. We have a beer and stay up talking and smoking till 230 am, they are people with a great way of accepting everything and everyone, something im learning, but slowly! Some days you have to wait longer for faith, sometimes its in the sunrise, sometimes found in a hurry over lunch, other days it sneaks up as a suprise, occasionally i know when its coming, call it a hunch. It always occurswait for it and you will raise a smile before you sleep.

another day here in incredible weather. 38 degrees ! Phew. Not up as early as yesterday but still doing ok and in barcelona for 10am. I stop in cafe zurich in plaza de catalunya and the waiter makes a mistake with my change and pays me! He is incredibly grateful when i tell him. I buy some nice bits in the zara sale and they have a just sensational pair of heels for you girls… I even thought of buying them and then finding someone to wear them, kind of cinderella story gone wrong. Wandering around i watch street performers who are fantastic, makes covent garden look tame! I walk la ramblas and buy two hats without thinking how im going to travel with them on a motorbike! The covered market is a great mixture of smells and colours, i love these markets and could spend ages watching people, discovering new things and wondering about ’stuff’. Lunch in fresco and co is interesting. 8.95euro for all you can eat and drink…so im a little podgy right now…! Another drink in cafe then the coach back to the campsite come carpark! I felt guilty over washing and drying my smalls untill i realised tge class of the site and patrons….my smalls on display are nothing compared to others are showing!

It’s sunny 30′ and hailing like crazy 2408m up in the pairofknees x

Im deliberately taking tiny roads to get anywhere and its really paying of with astounding scenic views. Im only doing a sunday drivers 35mph! Even the sunflowers are tilting their heads to the ground in disapproval! I cant go any faster in this 36′ heat. Today im in the pairofknees on my way to andorra, i wound through a valley and opening up before me was a three tired mountain range i stopped for coffee in a magnificent little medeival village called mirepoix. Yesterday i stayed in a little town called castres which is built literally up to the face of the river, a mini venice. Id stopped in albi for the toulouse lautrec musee, the cathedeal and an inevitable walk around yet another magnificent fish market. Friday saw me in millau and the viaduct is nearly as breath taking as the road to see it atop the montpellier sur la veix by far a better viewpoint than the viaduct info point as you also watch idiots jumping from a ledge with parachutes! Thursday was gramat an uneventful little place where i tried to visit some incredible caves, but i dont do well in ques especially when they are over a km long. So i gave up on this idea, wednesdays cave, church, marty village and meteor site must have counted for something! No fixed plans now other than a day or two in andorra then keep going south! See yer. X

Forgot to mention, yesterday i was fuelling up near rochefoucauld and across the road was an antique car sales place with avery humourous owner, about 100 rare cars, very good and free. Right off for a walk through a romanesque church and then a beer…again.
