Hello! I’m in the backpackers hostel in Tallin that’s pretty cool. Nice in Tallin too. St. Petersburg tomorrow… Making me slightly worried but I also hear this is the easiest place to start. Should be beautiful though. Speak soon.
Hi all, I’m sitting in Andy’s beautiful house; warm, dry and turning soft again by the amount of ‘hosting’ that’s been going on - I have a wooly head this morning!
I can see why Riga is a draw to live in, while the old town is small it’s also quite lovely, you can really feel the European experience, there’s a calmness that you just don’t get at home. Folk are friendlier and talking to strangers in a bar is nearly expected! You couldn’t do that in London.
And the girls here are the very best yet by a very long way - they are incredibly beautiful, it seems a national trait to have long, long, long legs!
I have another dilema about getting into Russia, I could skip Tallinn and go straight for the border or go and see Tallin, spend a day and cross the border in just the way I planned. While the visa is open and I could be using it there is probably little difference between the up and accross or just the across bit by map…dunno, the answer will pop out on its own.
Had a metre long sausage for dinner, some beer, had a curry while I’ve been here had more beer and washed me socks…
Andy and I changed the chain yesterday and the sprockets, pretty easy job really and it really needed it, the last 500 miles has really taken its toll on it. You can see the mishaped sprockets and the chain was in really bad condition.
Gotta go now but all’s great, weather has changed and the sun is out

In Lithuania now, miserable start to the day but ended fabulously. Staying in a garden shed tonight. Riga tomorrow with Andy, so I’m looking forward to beer and curry! Feet warm finally! But might smell a little

I’m soaked. I squelch when I walk and I’m wearing plastic bags 4 socks. They feel like I’m about to go swimmimg with a veruca! I’ve left a puddle in reception of a cheap hotel and hoping the half arsed heating will dry a few things, but it’s still raining outside.
Played rugby with a bus and lost but I’m fine bar the tension. Road covered in white foam and I can only think its fuel and water and a good stir cos between this and the huge wallows in the road it’s treacherous and my back wheel is all over the place, (because the roads are so bad) sometimes not connected to me at all but catches up on its elastic-band chain.
I’m absolutely fine, a bit cold but thats all.xxxxxxxxxx

I’m in Hell! This place is called Hell and I can see why. It’s not that modern and the sandflys swarm in huge clouds. Last time I saw the sea was Dover. The weather has turned cold, the tent has broken and collapsed and I’ve had a deer run in front of me, but besides this I’m fine and dandy and feel spoilt by the last few days xxx look up where I am on google ! The ride felt like hard work cos I’ve turned soft!! Weather report please…xxx
They do don’t they? And why hasn’t the bar girl come to my room when I was so obvious? Well obvious for an Englishman….maybe that’s the problem! Very wet and cold today but I can stand it when I consider the last four weeks. Gotta go, love to you all. Xxx
…thank you to Z&A and all their friends who have made me so welcome and who have made Poland a real rich experience that took nearly no effort on my behalf, the most I did was try to keep my balance!
Great folk that have given me time to relax and gather my thoughts, go onto the next stage with less trepidation and above all, have given me FAITH, (a long time since this was mentioned!) that people exist all around us who take a few minutes to find out who you are and send you on your way with good wishes and smiles.
(That’s not just because I’m leaving though is it?)
Been at Z&A’s now for a week, it’s tough here, the horse and carts are really slow. I can’t say I miss running water though but still, It will be hard to move on I had a fantastic time listening to Z rant on about some strange part of life while Ann sits quietly by his side waiting for the next time he draws breathe so she can drop a pill in…
Everyone has been fantastic in Poland, while generally I have not had a bad day yet, days in Poland have just been one sunshine ridden party after another, it’s a tough life over here but the very beautiful and chatty blondes make up for having to go out and fetch the water in from the well.
The Parties have been enormous fun with a great mixture of people, when I get time I’ll send in some diary notes before I forget the details… If I can separate the details out from the fog of my drunken messed up mind!
The Baltic states and Russia have to put in some effort if they are going to match the trip so far….
This visa thing through agency is verging on farce. I’m sure I’ve misunderstood and they have too, but untangling it is becoming a pain. This is an example of why text and type don’t make a relationship! I’m invited to two dinner parties which is nice and I’m being very well looked after so I don’t want to leave! Also made a biking friend here.Xxx
Hello from Walsaw, Uzbek visa not sorted but should be by Friday. Great weather and staying with very nice folk. Going to search for some spares tomorrow. The visa thing was a faff but it’s a story for another day.
